Karin Krappen won the World Darts Trophy for the first time in her career in 2005, it turned out to be the last edition. In an all-Dutch final she defeated Francis Hoenselaar 3-1. In the semi-final Krappen had already sent home Trina Gulliver.
Krappen played a Dutch lady for the fourth time in a row in the quarterfinal and for the first time she managed to win her quarterfinal. Mieke de Boer was swept aside 2-0, after which Krappen won the tournament. Gulliver defeated Anastasia Dobromyslova, who reached the quarterfinal surprisingly in 2004, in the quarterfinal.
