From October 22 to 24, 1987, the sixth WDF World Cup was played at the Vally Sport Complex in the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Twenty-three countries participate in the competition. The New Zealand team brought no less than 200 supporters and before the competition started the “Maori” presented their famous "Haka" war dance as a warm-up.

With 23 countries making the trip to Denmark, a new record is set, the 21 women's teams are also a record. Italy, Spain and Switzerland make their debut at a WDF World Cup.

21 Countries participated in the third WDF World Cup for women in the Danish capital. The big question was whether the English ladies could keep the overall title, which they held since the 1st WDF World Cup in 1983.

In the pairs tournament, the English ladies duo Linda Batten & Jayne Kempster quickly went out in the quarterfinals against the strong duo Kathy Maloney & Kathy Karpowich from the USA. They Americans reached the final via the Japanese couple Aoi Okada & Toshiko Ono. In it they play against the other North American team, Rani Gill & Patricia Farrell from Canada.

The Canadians beat Eila Nikander & Eila Rasanen from Finland in the semi-finals and have also thrown Australia out of the tournament before that. In the final, Kathy Maloney & Kathy Karpowich are too strong for their North American colleagues. They win 4-2 and take this title to the USA for the first time.
