WDF World Cup Men Overall 1981

For this World Cup, most countries had to fly half way around the world to the distant New Zealand. The venue was the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson on 2 and 3 October. Yet 16 countries showed up, which may be called a success on its own. In addition, some new countries like Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. Among the 64 participants was one woman, namely Selly Tain who originated from the Solomon Islands, but played for Papua New Guinea. She can call herself the first woman ever to play in a World Cup.

The General Classification was won convincingly by England with 132 points. The Scots were the runners-up with 45 points and host nation New Zealand took the bronze with 41points. Fourth place went to Sweden with 31 points.
