In 2014, the PDC returns to Sydney as part of the World Tour. Again, the top eight of the world compete in the first round against eight players from the Australian continent. The new venue is the Horden Pavilion.
The winner is the same. Phil Taylor beats Stephen Bunting, who has received a wildcard to participate, in the final. The tournament biggest surprise was the elimination in the first round of Michael van Gerwen. He spoils a 5-1 lead and loses 5-6 to the New Zealander Warren Parry.
Raymond van Barneveld loses in the first round for the second year in a row, this time Kyle Anderson is too strong for him. Anderson also beats Simon Whitlock one round later but loses in the semi-finals to the eventual champion.
