Shanghai Darts Masters

The first edition of the Shanghai Darts Masters was played on 25th and 26th June. The European participants were Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, Peter Wright, James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld and Dave Chisnall.

In the first round, the professionals had little problems with their Asian opponents and all won their matches. In the quarterfinals, this years indefeated player in the World Series Gary Anderson crashes out against James Wade. The losing finalist in Auckland one week earlier, Adrian Lewis also loses.

In the final, it’s Michael van Gerwen who takes on Wade. After beating Anderson The Machine also defeats Phil Taylor in the semi-finals. Van Gerwen beats compatriot Raymond van Barneveld and Dave Chisnall. In the final, Van Gerwen proves too strong for Wade who has played very well all day but cannot get going in the finale which he loses 8-3.

It’s Michael van Gerwen’s fifth World Series title after three victories in Dubai and one in Singapore.
