The 2024 New Zealand Darts Masters were held on 16 and 17 August at the Globox Arena in Hamilton. The victory goes to Luke Humphries. He beats Damon Heta in the final.
In 2024, the PDC goes Down Under with, in addition to Luke Humphries and Damon Heta, also Gerwyn Price, Luke Littler, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Dimitri Van den Bergh and Peter Wright. The 'local' players in New Zealand are Jonny Tata, Mark Cleaver, Ben Robb, Jeremy Fagg, Haupai Puha, Simon Whitlock, Kayden Milne and Daniel Snookes.
Just like in Australia a week earlier, no surprises in the first round and also just like in Australia, it is Haupai Puha who comes closest to a victory, but again he loses in an eleventh and decisive leg to Rob Cross.
Defending champion Rob Cross loses a round later in the quarterfinals to Damon Heta, who then also beats Peter Wright in the semi-finals. On the other side of the draw, Luke Humphries first beats Michael Smith and then comes back from 2-6 down to beat Luke Littler in the semi-final.
In the final, Heta wins the first leg, but then Humphries takes firm control of the match by winning five legs in a row. That proves to be enough for victory in New Zealand as he runs out an 8-2 winner. For the first time in his career, Luke Humphries wins a World Series tournament
