The second edition of the New South Wales Darts Masters, held on August 11-12 at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong Australia, is won by Rob Cross. He defeated Damon Heta 8-1 in the final.
It is the second World Series tournament in a row for Cross that he wins after he was also the strongest in New Zealand a week earlier. In the first round, only Nathan Aspinall loses surprisingly. He gets beaten by Simon Whitlock 6-5. Whitlock loses one round later at the hands of Belgian Dimitri Van den Bergh. The other Australian who is doing well in front of his own audience is Damon Heta. He is in Wollongong as a PDC player and first beats compatriot Joe Comito, then Gerwyn Price and Dimitri Van den Bergh to reach the final.
Rob Cross wins against Danny Noppert in the quarterfinals and knocks out Peter Wright with 7-0 in the semi-finals. In the final it is one-way traffic. Rob Cross is too strong and wins 8-1. He takes his third World Series victory in total.
