The third edition of the German Darts Open was played from 26 to 28 April in the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken. For the first time in his career, Michael van Gerwen wins the tournament. He beats Ian White in the final with 8-3.

The road to the final of Mighty Mike is not an easy one. He beats Dimitri Van den Bergh 6-1, but then needs a decisive leg three times in a row against Raymond van Barneveld, Nathan Aspinall and Dave Chisnall. Aspinall gets a match dart, Chisnall even gets four, but MVG survives them all.

Ian White defeats Jeffrey de Zwaan, Darren Webster, Adrian Lewis and Rob Cross before falling short against Van Gerwen in the final. In the first round, Steve Beaton hits a nine-darter in his game against Kirk Shepherd. The third nine-darter already on the EuroTour in 2019.

With his victory, Michael van Gerwen has now won 31 EuroTour tournaments out of the 62 in which he has participated, an unprecedented number. For Ian White this was his third EuroTour final, he remains on one win.
