On 26 and 27 October, the Dutch Darts Association organized the fourth edition of the WDF Europe Cup in collaboration with the WDF in the Ockenburg sports center in The Hague. For the first time in history, a darts event of this stature was organized in the Netherlands. All the top players from twelve European countries were present. However, the English team would reign supreme, winning all the top prizes. For the first time in history, a brother and sister participate in a WDF Europe Cup; Luc and Christa Marreel play on behalf of Belgium.
In the pairs competition two top duos clash in the quarterfinals. The Welsh duo consisting of Sandra Gibb and Ann-Marie Davies play against the English duo Linda Batten and Sharon Kemp. The Welsh ladies do not appear to have the WDF Europe Cup winning form two years ago, as they lose 3-0 to the English tandem.
In the semi-finals, the English ladies surprisingly faced three Scandinavian duos. Païvi Lonnroth & Sirpa Levanen from Finland, Annette Nielsen & Annette Rasmussen from Denmark and Carina Sahlberg & Marianne Wathén from Sweden. In the semi-finals the Finnish pair, who also managed to reach the semi-finals in the first WDF Europe Cup, beat the Danish duo 3-0. The English ladies win 3-1 against Sweden.
In the final, the English had no mercy for their Finnish opponents and took the title with a 3-0 win. In particular, the second leg of the English was very good in 18 darts with a 98 finish by Sharon Kemp. The bronze for Denmark is Denmark's first ever medal at a WDF Europe Cup.
