In 2004, the WDF Europe Cup returns to Finland for the third time. After Turku in 1986 and Kerava in 1992, Tampere is now the place of action. The fourteenth edition of the WDF Europe Cup was held at the Scandic Hotel Rosendahl from 13 to 16 October. With 21 participating countries for men and 20 for women, it can safely be called a successful edition. Estonia makes its debut at this tournament.

Raymond van Barneveld once again confirms his status as the best player in the world at the moment. He easily defeats Mervyn King, Søren Behrendsen, Daniel Larsson Jarkko Komula and Vincent van der Voort on his way to the final. Only against Jarkko Komula does the Dutchman give up three legs. All other games are won 4-0.

The opponent for Van Barneveld in the final will be the Norwegian Robert Wagner. The born Austrian has been playing for Norway for years. He has a lot of trouble with Italian Luigi Marino in the first round, but after that he passes smoothly past Ulf Ceder, Mario Robbe, Dennis Lindskjold and Marco Kantele.

In the final it is Raymond van Barneveld who takes the victory. He beats Norwegian Robert Wagner 4-2. It is the first time that Raymond van Barneveld wins the singles at a WDF Europe Cup. After Co Stompé in 1998, he is the second Dutchman to achieve this. Robert Wagner's silver represents Norway's first ever men's medal. Only Mette Hansen has ever won a medal before. In 1998 she won bronze in the ladies.
