In the second weekend of December in 2002, The Masters got an Australian winner. Tony David saw off Mervyn King in the final beating him 6-4 and eliminated Raymond van Barneveld in the semi-finals. King was better than Tony O’Shea in the other semi-final.
Van Barneveld defeated Martin Adams in the quarterfinals, but was not able to stop David in the semi-final. The Australian beat Bob Taylor in the quarterfinal. King and O’Shea defeated Ted Hankey and Jarkko Komula respectively in the quarterfinal.
