In the Hardenberg Evenementenhal, the first ever Masters tournament was being held in the first weekend of November in 2000. Martin Adams became the first player to win the tournament, beating Steve Beaton in the final. In the semi-final, Adams saw off Raymond van Barneveld and in the quarter final he sent Les Wallace back to Scotland.
The other semi-final between Beaton and Peter Manley was won by the Bronzed Adonis 3-1. Two Dutch players were in the quarterfinals. Van Barneveld defeated Wayne Mardle, Co Stompé was not good enough against Beaton. Surprisingly, Finnish ace Marko Pusa reached the quarterfinals. He lost to Manley.
