The first edition of the Poland Darts Masters was held on July 7 and 8 at the COS Torwar in Warsaw. It is an immediate success because the tickets are all sold out within a day. The eight PDC players faced a player from Eastern Europe in the first round.
Playing on behalf of the PDC are Michael Smith, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross, Luke Humphries, Danny Noppert, Dimitri Van den Bergh and Nathan Aspinall. The best player from Eastern Europe comes from Poland and is also the only player to survive the first round. Krzysztof Ratajski beats Rob Cross 6-3.
In the quarterfinals, Ratajski must bow to Dimitri Van den Bergh, who wins 6-3. The Belgian then continues well and beats Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals. Michael van Gerwen awaits in the final, who in turn has easily dealt with Luke Humphries and Michael Smith.
There is no measure to Van Gerwen in the final. Although Van den Bergh plays quite well, he averages 101.07, he has no chance against an unleashed Mighty Mike. The Dutchman wins 8-3 and records an average of 113.22, it is already the 19th World Tour victory for Van Gerwen in his career.
