The Dutch Darts Masters of 2022, held on 24 and 25 June in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, became a prey for Dimitri Van den Bergh. In the final Van den Bergh plays against Dirk van Duijvenbode and beats him comfortably, it finishes 8-2.
Van den Bergh does not run into any problems throughout the tournament. Every game he makes the difference early in the game by taking a big lead and is never in danger again. In total, the Belgian loses only seven legs in the four matches he plays against Ron Meulenkamp, Jermaine Wattimena, Danny Noppert, and Dirk van Duijvenbode.
In the first round of the tournament, traditionally eight 'home' players compete against the eight top players that the PDC brings. Never have so many top players lost in the first round as here in Amsterdam. Six of the eight games were won by the Dutch. Michael Smith, Peter Wright, Fallon Sherrock, Jonny Clayton, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price all fell victim to the might of the Dutch. Only James Wade and Dimitri Van den Bergh won their first-round matches.
Dirk van Duijvenbode then beat Martijn Kleermaker in the quarterfinals, James Wade defeated Maik Kuivenhoven and Danny Noppert was too strong for Vincent van der Voort. The best match of the Saturday was the semi-final between Dirk van Duijvenbode and James Wade, which was eventually won by Van Duijvenbode in a thirteenth and decisive leg. With that, he qualified for the final of a World Series tournament for the first time.
As said before, Dimitri Van den Bergh is simply too good for Van Duijvenbode in the final and the Belgian wins his second World Series tournament in two weeks after he already won the ViaPlay Nordic Darts Masters earlier this month.
