From February 20 to 22, Poland hosted the 2026 Poland Darts Open in the EXPO Kraków, the opening event of this year’s European Tour. In a weekend filled with high scoring and dramatic finishes, it was Luke Littler who lifted the trophy, defeating Gian van Veen 8–4 in the final.
Littler delivered a series of strong performances throughout the tournament on his way to the title. The Englishman began his campaign in the second round with a 6–1 victory over Mike De Decker. In the third round he beat Ross Smith 6–2, before beating Josh Rock 6–1 in the quarter-final. Littler continued his run with a 7–3 win over Chris Dobey in the semi-finals to book his place in the final.
Van Veen, meanwhile, also enjoyed an impressive run to the final. The Dutchman produced several strong performances across the weekend, including victories over Andrew Gilding and Nathan Aspinall to reach the latter stages of the tournament. In the semi-finals, Van Veen secured his place in the final with a 7–5 win over Luke Humphries, following his quarter final victory over fellow Dutchman Wessel Nijman.
The final itself provided several memorable moments. Van Veen briefly took the lead after producing a nine-dart finish to make it 3–2, the first televised nine-darter of his career. Littler responded immediately and gradually took control of the match, winning six of the next eight legs to seal the 8–4 victory.
With this triumph, Luke Littler claimed the first Poland Darts Open title, adding another European Tour trophy to his rapidly growing collection. Gian van Veen, despite the defeat, enjoyed one of the standout moments of the tournament with his nine-darter and another run to a European Tour final.
The opening event of the 2026 European Tour delivered plenty of entertainment, with several seeded players falling early and a number of strong performances across the field. Littler’s victory in Kraków sets an early benchmark for the season as the European Tour continues across the continent.
