In the pairs event, the English duo John Lowe & Eric Bristow were in the semi-finals against the American pair Rick Ney & Dan Valletto. With a 3-2 score in favour of the English, Dan Valletto had the opportunity to tie, but missed on double 16 to give the English a place in the final.
In the other semi-finals, it was an Oceanic tussle between Australia with Russell Stewart & Frank Palko and Brent Bartholomew & Alfred Moses on behalf of New Zealand. The game was easily won by the Aussies 4-0.
In the final, John Lowe & Eric Bristow secured their fourth WDF World Cup title in the pairs by beating their Australian opponents 4-0. Never has a country other than England won this title.
