After the success of Fallon Sherrock at the PDC World Championship in 2020 and Lisa Ashton's getting a tour ticket at Q-School that year, the PDC deems the time right to start a separate tournament cycle for the ladies as well.

In 2020, there are only four tournaments that will be completed in one weekend, but the PDC soon expands this number. The best ladies of the ranking qualify for a number of the major PDC tournaments, with the World Championship as the main prize.

Over 65 Women's Series tournaments have been held. The most successful players are Beau Greaves, Lisa Ashton and Fallon Sherrock.
