Mandy Solomons in 1989 becomes the first female player to defend her Winmau World Masters title successfully. On 1 and 2 December, the eighth edition was held in the Kensington Rainbow in London.

Solomons this year defeats Sharon Colclough in the final. Solomons and Colclough are two of the ladies who dominate ladies darts in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
