The World Masters tournament of 2000 is being held on the first and second of December in the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green. This year will have a surprising winner. John Walton won the Wales Open in 2000, but was unknown till then. The victory in the World Masters would turn out to be the start of a year where John Boy was almost invincible.

Walton defeated Andy Jenkins in the quarterfinals, Chris Mason in the semi finals and Mervyn King in the final. King sent Colin Monk and Jarkko Komula home. This tournament proves again that the new big names of darts show themselves at the Masters first. Tony O’Shea reaches the quarterfinals; Darryl Fitton is being defeated in the last 16.
