About World Championship Men 2011
The 2011 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was held between 1 and 9 January at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green.
Martin Adams won the tournament for the second time in a row and for the third time in total. Adams was the first player since Raymond van Barneveld in 1998 and 1999 who successfully defended his title.
In the final Adams played against Dean Winstanley who was already seeded third on his debut. Winstanley won a tough match against Martin Atkins 3-2 in the first round, but then gained more and more momentum. Victories over Robbie Green, Stephen Bunting and Jan Dekker put him in the final. Adams proved too strong in the final and took victory 7-5.
Adams was run very close in the second round, in a spectacular match Wolfie eventually beat John Walton in a sudden-death leg, but it had been a real close shave. The Dutch qualifier Jan Dekker also played a thriller. In the quarterfinals, he survived nine match darts from Garry Thompson to book his place in the semi-finals
