The seventh edition of the World Cup of Darts was played from 1-4 June 2017 in Frankfurt. Two players from 32 countries played as a pair for this title. Title defender was England, Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis were the strongest in 2016, but for the first time performed without Phil Taylor in 2017. Dave Chisnall took the place of The Power. The English duo fell in the semi-final against the Netherlands.

In the first round, the curtain fell immediately for the first ranked team of Scotland. Peter Wright & Gary Anderson lost very surprisingly to Paul Lim and Harith Lim from Singapore. The number six seed, Northern Ireland also flew out, perhaps less surprisingly against host nation Germany.

With the Scots out, the top section of the schedule was blown wide open. Belgium and Wales benefited best by reaching the semi-final. In that, Gerwyn Price and Mark Webster were too strong for Kim and Ronny Huybrechts. After two singles it was over.

Dutch duo Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld played a very strong tournament. Van Gerwen, in particular, did not lose one match. In the matches where they had to play as a pair, the Dutch were especially supreme. In the four pairs matches they played, they lost a total of three legs and also hit an average well above the 100 three times.

In the final the Dutch were also unstoppable. After Van Gerwen whitewashed Price, Mark Webster seemed to be able to keep the match close by beating Van Barneveld 4-1. But after another strong pairs match by the Dutch, Van Barneveld closed out the match by brushing Price aside with 4- 2.

The Netherlands won the World Cup for the third time, for the second time with the duo Van Gerwen and Van Barneveld. Wales had to settle for the silver for the second time.
