From 6 to 14 May, the fifth and last edition of the International Darts League was held in the Triavium in Nijmegen. Last year five PDC players took part, this year that number increased to 16.

The first two rounds were again played in a group system. In particular the second group stage takes out a lot of the top favourites. Phil Taylor goes out along with Michael van Gerwen in the group in which Raymond van Barneveld and Darryl Fitton progress. Martin Adams and Simon Whitlock also belong to the victims of round two.

Defending champion Raymond van Barneveld loses in the quarterfinals to Tony O'Shea, Mark Webster beats Gary Robson and Adrian Lewis beats Darryl Fitton in the other quarterfinals. The best quarterfinal is the one between Gary Anderson and James Wade. It is a finger-licking contest in which both men average over 105 per throw. It is Anderson who steps of stage the winner. The Scot will not lose that good form for the remainder of the tournament. In the semi-finals he beats Adrian Lewis 9-1 in sets and in the final he overcomes Mark Webster 13-9. With this victory Anderson claims his first major title.

The International Darts League 2007 will always remain in the history books. Not only because of the title of Gary Anderson, but also because this is the first tournament in history where two nine-darters are thrown. On May 8 Phil Taylor hits a nine-darter in his match against Raymond van Barneveld. One day later Tony O'Shea repeated the feat against Adrian Lewis. Initially there was only one car as a price for the first nine darter, but later a second car is delivered so that O'Shea is also rewarded for this piece of history.
