From 3 to 5 September, the first edition of the Hungarian Darts Trophy was held in the Papp Laszlo Sportarena. In a packed house Gerwyn Price beats Michael Smith 8-2 in the final.

Gerwyn Price starts his tournament in the second round with a 6-4 victory over Richard Veenstra. Then Damon Heta and Brandan Dolan are also set aside with the same numbers. Price's form does not seem great then, but that will change when he beats Luke Humphries with an average of more than 107 in the semi-final and in the final the counter only stops at 108.74 per visit.

Michael Smith plays a strong tournament from the start. He beats John Michael 6-3, Keane Barry 6-1, Peter Wright 6-2 and Jose de Sousa 7-5.

Five seeded players lose in their first round. Devon Petersen loses to Luke Humphries, Jonny Clayton to Adam Gawlas, Krzysztof Ratajski to Lewis Williams, Mensur Suljovic to William Borland and Dirk van Duijvenbode to Keane Barry. Gawlas eventually makes it to the quarterfinals, Humphries even to the semi. It is Price's fourth EuroTour title in his career.
