The 2019 Grand Slam of Darts was held from 9 to 17 November in the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton. Welshman Gerwyn Price successfully defends his title after defeating Peter Wright from Scotland in the final: 16-6.

There are no surprises in the group phase. All seeded players qualify for the knock-out phase. In addition, Glen Durrant, who remarkably as the reigning Lakeside champion participates in this tournament, is the only BDO player in the last sixteen. Of the four Dutch players, only Michael van Gerwen reaches the knock-out stage.

In the first knock-out round, Van Gerwen beats Ian White. Surprising is the defeat of Rob Cross, who is seeded second in this tournament. He went down 10-3 against Wright. Other seeded players who are eliminated are James Wade and Daryl Gurney.

Van Gerwen faces Lewis again in the quarterfinals. He manages to win this match with an average of over 103 with 16-6. Most eyes in the quarterfinals are focused on the game between Price and Gary Anderson. They had some turmoil in the 2018 final. Again it is Price who manages to win the match. Other players who advance to the final four are Wright and Glen Durrant.

The first semi-final of the Grand Slam of Darts is between Van Gerwen and Price. The Dutchman is the favorite, since he has never lost to the Welshman in eighteen previous encounters. Yet it is Price who wins: 16-12. At the bottom of the bracket, Wright beats Durrant: 16-11.

Unfortunately, it won't be an exciting final in Wolverhampton. Price plays a fantastic final and scores an average of more than 107. 'The Icemen' quickly takes a double break lead and doesn't give it away anymore. He is finally triumphed with 16-6 and his second Major in the PDC is a fact.
