The third edition of the Las Vegas Desert Classic was played from June 30 to July 4 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. The tournament changed format again. This year 32 players start in the main tournament which is played in knockout format.

Phil Taylor again proves to be the strongest. He beats Adrian Lewis, Alan Warriner, Steve Coote and Kevin Painter on his way to the final, which he then wins by beating Wayne Mardle. Defending champion Peter Manley lost in the second round to his compatriot Kevin Painter.

In the final Taylor goes ahead quickly 4-1, but Mardle fought back well and levels the game after eight sets at 4-4. Yet Taylor will win the match, he wins the decisive fifth leg of the ninth set and then goes on to win the tenth set. It is for Taylor his second Desert Classic title after his first title in 2002.
