The first edition of the Czech Darts Open was held in 2019 in the PVA Expo hall in Prague in the Czech Republic from 28 to 30 June. Under tropical conditions, it is Jamie Hughes who remains the coolest and wins his first PDC title by beating Stephen Bunting in the final.

The tournament in Prague has an unprecedented surprising story. In the first round that the seeded players enter the tournament, eleven of the 16 lose their game, including Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright and James Wade. Jamie Hughes plays a very strong tournament with consecutively wins against Devon Peterson, Adrian Lewis, Ron Meulenkamp, Ian White and Simon Whitlock.

Stephen Bunting reaches his first EuroTour final thanks to victories over Robert Thornton, Peter Wright, Chris Dobey, Daryl Gurney and Keegan Brown. In the final, however, Bunting no longer reaches his level. In the beginning it stays close to each other, but after five legs, Hughes spins away for an 8-3 victory. With his victory, he not only wins his first PDC tournament, but he also qualifies for the World Matchplay, which is played a month later.

Despite the temperatures going up to 37 degrees outside and inside to above 50, the audience in Prague is in great voice and is rewarded for this by Gerwyn Price, who throws a nine-darter on Saturday in the final leg of his spectacular game against Glen Durrant.
