Charlie Corstorphine

Charlie is the "youngest" addition to the BDO calls guild when he makes his TV debut at the World Masters in 2016. It is in a turbulent period because after three World Championships, he and his colleagues step down after a disagreement with the BDO.

Charlie first got into refereeing when at a Youth County match for Essex one day he discovered they were short for callers. He subsequently volunteered and could never have envisaged the journey he'd soon embark on.

Charlie then regularly called for the Youth and it wasn't long before he was asked to call for the Seniors. From there his name was put forward to Richard Ashdown and he started reffing at ranking tournaments including the Isle of Man Darts Festival and Selsey weekends.

It was then at the 2016 Winmau World Masters where Charlie was asked if he'd like to referee at the forthcoming 2017 Lakeside World Championships. The answer was given before the question had finished and Charlie became part of the now known Team Ref. Charlie has also been a regular caller for England during the British Internationals and Six Nations Cup events and reffed his first and only 9 darter at the former courtesy of Paul Hogan in 2017.

The next step for Corstorphine also come quick. When Russ Bray hangs up his microphone after the 2024 World Championship, it is Charlie who will be his successor in the PDC.
